Job Description

We are looking for a Director REgion Operations & Safety to join our Mayer team in Birmingham, AL!

Summary:
The Director Region Operations & Safety is part of the Region’s Senior Leadership team and is responsible for partnering with that team to optimize, promote, and deliver compliance and excellence throughout the Region’s operational processes and disciplines. In coordination with the Operations functions, the Director Region Operations & Safety is also accountable for the strategic and tactical execution of significant operational activities within the Region that promotes employee well-being, profitability, process scalability, and alignment with Rexel USA’s overall operations and commercial strategies. This will include, but is not limited to, activities such as ensuring employee and warehouse safety, driving ESG initiatives, regional facilities management, inventory management, employee coaching and development, warehouse productivity, Regional OPEX reduction, and leveraging data and analytics to support sound business decision-making. Will also help develop and support the Regions commercial strategy and financial objectives.

What You'll Do:

 

  • Key partner for all regional commercial leaders in scaling processes that enable efficient transaction processing, customer order fulfilment, and customer delivery
  • Formulate strategies and deploy tactical execution plans that continuously maintain and improve productivity and monitor performance through key performance indicators
  • Strategically evaluate long-term and short-term space requirements for the Region, including but not limited to, assessing viability of available properties in specific markets, assisting in lease negotiation, and maintaining properties in accordance with lease agreements. Coordinate building space allocation and layout to ensure optimal utilization, project manage facility closures, relocations, new openings, and tenant improvements
  • Continuously review individual branch and Customer Solution Center (CSC) operational performance. Establish and execute plans to drive improvement, identify and address employee training and development needs, and build scale that optimizes core processes
  • Lead the Region's safety agenda and drive safety compliance throughout the Region
  • Collaborate with other key functions such as procurement and sales to effectively manage the Region's inventory portfolio and ensure its accuracy. Oversee physical inventories, cycle count processes, third party inventory storage, consignment inventory, inventory returns, and all other aspects of inventory management that ensure inventory is safeguarded and protected from misappropriation, shrinkage, or theft
  • Promote the Region's and Rexel USA’s overall ESG strategies
  • Deploy and support a culture that promotes employee growth and high employee morale
  • Coordinate all aspects of operational integration of newly acquired businesses into the Region's operating rhythm
  • Engage customers as required to ensure operational adjustments are implemented to address evolving customer service needs and requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You'll Need

  • 7+ years of experience in Business, Statistics, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent in a product distribution industry
  • Proven operational leadership experience with knowledge in all aspects of operations
  • High School or GED - Required
  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree - Preferred

  • Ability to identify, oversee, and implement short and long-term strategies through the execution of projects aligned with the strategic objectives of the Region and the Company
  • Ability to create, maintain, and nurture a network of contacts (internally and externally) who may be useful in information sharing in the pursuit of achieving work-related goals
  • Ability to effectively facilitate information exchange that delivers tangible results, conduct effective business meetings, present to small and large groups, and deliver concise and precise information to Senior Management
  • Ability to accurately listen to others, understand their feelings, needs, and points of view and then respond appropriately
  • Ability to develop practical business solutions to simple and complex business issues while preserving relationships through the delivery of mutually acceptable outcomes
  • Ability to use other interconnected competencies to evaluate data and other information to quickly isolate facts, determine root cause, and develop meaningful conclusions and solutions
