Safety & Quality Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • ISO Management
    • Document and manage processes for ISO systems (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 or equivalent) and maintain the register of legislation to meet standard requirements.
  • Health & Safety
    • Lead accident/incident management: ensure thorough investigation, reporting (including to enforcing authorities and insurers where required), and preventive learning dissemination.
    • Provide leadership and SME support to managers at all levels on H&S, new location fit-out, maintenance/repair, training, and reasonable adjustments to accommodate disabled colleagues.
    • Represent the company on H&S matters with external stakeholders (customers, Environmental Health Officers, Fire Authority) and during audits/customer questionnaires.
    • Collaborate with Legal and insurers to provide information relating to employee liability insurance claims.
    • Own fire risk assessments for new, refurbished, or relocated sites; complete local fire risk assessments and review them regularly.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and risk assessments; support all business areas in achieving a positive safety culture.
  • Compliance, Audit and Continuous Improvement
    • Close out or assign remedial actions from internal compliance audits; manage i-auditor templates and safe systems of work; maintain department information on the intranet. 
    • Manage and minute H&S consultation meetings across business areas; ensure KPIs and process expectations are met.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Strong H&S operations background with customer focus; able to influence at all levels and work autonomously. 
  • Proven project management and stakeholder engagement across internal teams and external regulators/customers.
  • NEBOSH Certificate (Diploma/British Safety Council Diploma desirable); expert knowledge of H&S and fire legislation; practical fire risk assessment experience.
  • Hands-on with ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, 50001 (or equivalents).
  • Confident communicator and trainer; clear, actionable problem-solving using data and statistics.
  • IT literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email); familiar with i‑Auditor (training available).

Company Description

We’re looking for a subject matter expert to lead ISO management and Health & Safety to fulfil the role of a Safety & Quality Manager covering the South. 

You’ll be the go-to authority on quality, health and safety, environment and energy management requirements—setting standards, coaching managers, and ensuring our sites meet UK legislation and company compliance at all times. You’ll also take a particular lead on safety at our Distribution Centre and deputise for the Head of Safety, Quality, Environment and Facilities Management when required.
